Claire's Big Ideas: #5 - A Citywide Stormwater Management Plan

Welcome to the fifth installment of Claire’s Big Ideas. We need to address stormwater management holistically.

On August 18, Summit received five inches of rain in two hours–it was the storm of the century. The overflowing Salt Creek damaged residents’ properties. Last year on July 4, we had a similar storm of the century. The overflowing Salt Creek damaged other residents’ properties. These extreme weather events will continue.

Summit has no city-wide stormwater management plan. We have city-wide plans for sidewalks and for playgrounds; we need one to deal with stormwater.

I recorded this video before August 18; that storm makes the plan even more necessary.
